Exploring Your Next Shower Door

Century Bathworks started making shower doors in 1946. The Centec series, was first line to offer sleek European frameless sliding shower doors to the American market. Centec semi-frameless shower door offers a blend of functionality and design that provides several advantages:

    1. Aesthetic Appeal: Unlike fully framed doors, semi-frameless designs maintain a sleek look by reducing the amount of visible metal. This creates a more modern and open appearance while still providing some structural framing for a clean, polished style.
    2. Cost-Effective: Semi-frameless doors are typically less expensive than fully frameless options while still offering a more upscale look compared to traditional framed doors. This makes them an attractive middle-ground option for many homeowners.
    3. Stability and Strength: The framing elements of semi-frameless doors provide additional structural support, which can be beneficial for maintaining long-term durability, especially in heavy-use bathrooms.
    4. Customization: Many semi-frameless models, including Centec options, offer customizable features such as different glass finishes, frame colors, and hardware styles to complement various bathroom aesthetics.
    5. Ease of Maintenance: Semi-frameless doors often have fewer metal components than fully framed doors, reducing places for grime, mold, and mildew to collect, making cleaning and maintenance easier.
    6. Water Retention: The frame elements can help contain water better than fully frameless designs, minimizing leaks and splashing outside the shower area.

The Glasstec series and its fully frameless shower enclosures was developed after our popular Centec Series. These benefits make frameless shower doors an attractive and functional choice for many homeowners. If you’re considering installing one, it’s also worth noting that they may come at a higher initial cost but often offer greater longevity and aesthetic value:

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Frameless doors provide a clean, contemporary look, creating an open and spacious feeling in the bathroom. The absence of bulky frames enhances visibility and highlights tile workk and other design features.
  2. Customizable: Frameless glass doors can be custom-fitted to any space, making them an excellent option for uniquely shaped showers or non-standard-sized openings.
  3. Easier to Clean: Without metal frames or tracks to trap water and soap scum, frameless doors are easier to keep clean. They typically require less maintenance and are resistant to mold and mildew buildup.
  4. Durability: Frameless doors are made from thicker, tempered glass, providing extra strength and durability compared to framed counterparts.
  5. Increased Home Value: They can add a luxurious, spa-like feel to the bathroom, potentially increasing the home’s resale value.
  6. Better Light Flow: The transparent glass allows more light to flow throughout the bathroom, brightening the space and making it feel larger.

By 1990, Century brought the high-end, framed Brassline series to market. The richness of solid brass in heavy gauge framed shower and bath enclosure reflects a sense of luxury and longevity to your bathroom,  The Brassline series can be a wise and stylish investment for several reasons:

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Brass adds a touch of luxury, warmth, and elegance to your bathroom. Its gold-like hue can create a statement piece, making your bathroom feel more inviting and sophisticated.
  2. Durability: Brass is known for its long-lasting properties. It resists corrosion and tarnish better than many other metals when properly maintained, making it suitable for the damp and humid conditions of a bathroom.
  3. Timeless Style: Brass has been used for centuries, and its classic look can complement both traditional and modern interior designs. It won’t go out of style quickly, offering long-term value.
  4. Customization Options: Brass shower enclosures often come in various finishes, including polished, brushed, antique, or even matte, allowing you to customize the look to match your bathroom’s style.
  5. Easy Maintenance: With proper care, brass enclosures are relatively easy to maintain. They typically only need a gentle cleaner to keep their shine.
  6. Compatibility: Brass fixtures blend well with other bathroom elements, such as brass faucets, handles, and towel racks, creating a cohesive look.
